Inheritance, by Christopher Paolini
In the beginning, there were dragons, proud, fierce, hot blooded, and ferocious. Then, elves sailed towards Alagaesia, then the 2 races fought. And during those times of wars, both races nearly became extinct, until, Eragon, an elf, and Bid'aum, a dragon, joined, thus the time of the Dragon Riders begun. Then the dwarves came, bringing with them the worship of stone, and wonders through metal working. Urgals and humans came last, and they too, fought. Urgals were large, blood thirsty, and savage, while humans were weaker, but smarter. Yet under all those circumstances, the Dragon Riders enforced peace, and made a pact that Humans could also be Riders. As time of peace and prosperity passes by, Galbatorix rose. Galbatorix was a trust worthy Rider, until one day, his dragon was murdered by Urgals, which left him in paranoia, and through the rejection of the council for a new dragon, Galbatorix turned against the Riders. With his 13 disciples,Galbatorix overthrew the Riders, and taking from their dragons, the Eludinari, the heart of hearts, the source of great magic and mental powers. Now, a hundred years after, Galbatorix still ruling supreme, Eragon, a 15 year old boy, found a dragon egg, and that egg hatched for him, making them Rider and Dragon, the dragon was named Saphira. 2 years later, 2 years of unimaginable perseverance, self betterment, and self confident, led Eragon and the Varden, a rebel force opposing Galbatorix, to the very gates of Uru'bean, the capitol of Galbatorix's rule. A fight to the death, with nothing to lose, but everything to gain, love and hatreds will be kindled, lives will be lost, families will part, and a new era might yet emerge. Where peace and prosperity would be restored, yet, all seems far away. Can 17 year old Eragon unite all the races of Alagaesia and overthrow Galbatorix? Will his inexperience hurt him, his family, friends, his love? and most important of all, what will become in the future for Alagaesia? Find out, in the last book of 4, wrote by Christopher Paolini, and you will be enchanted, as I have, with the courageous story of Eragon.
